Stephens leads NWF baseball over Chipola
4/27/2010 – Stephens leads NWF State over Chipola
The Northwest Florida State College baseball team didn't make the postseason, but the Raiders didn't play Monday as if their season was over. Behind a commanding pitching performance by Jake Stephens and a big second inning, the visiting Raiders defeated playoff-bound Chipola College 6-4.
Stephens threw a complete game, striking out eight, walking none and allowing three earned runs.
"I'm really proud of what he did," NWF State coach Doug Martin said. "He was wonderful." NWF State (26-20, 10-13) got all the runs it needed in the second inning. Crestview product David Pyle smacked a three-run double to highlight a five-run frame. Josh McGee had two hits for NWF State, which closes its season Wednesday by hosting Chipola (25-23, 12-11) at 5 p.m.
