NWF State baseball splits DH

2/7/2010 – NWF State baseball splits DH

The Northwest Florida State College baseball team split a doubleheader at the Max Burner Classic on Saturday, dropping the first game to Andrew College 6-5 but rebounding to beat Northwest Shoals 8-3 in the second game.

The Raiders (3-1) surrendered a four-run lead to drop the first game to Andrew. Crestview graduate David Pyle went 3-for-4 for the Raiders and Christiaan Durdaller went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Andrew scored four runs in the fourth to tie the game and pushed across the game-winner in the seventh inning.

NWF State came back strong against Northwest Shoals, cruising past the Patriots on the strength of more offense from Pyle and a strong pitching performance from Ryan Crowley. Crowley (2-0) went five innings while surrendering just two earned runs. Pyle finished the second game 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, while Blake Barber added a two-run double.

The Raiders return to action today with another doubleheader, playing Northwest Shoals at 1 p.m. and Andrew at 4 p.m.
