Raiders split games at Pensacola State
FCSAA fifth-ranked Northwest Florida State College split its doubleheader at Pensacola State on Wednesday, winning the opening game 8-3 before falling 12-11 in Game 2.
Michelle Phelps picked up the win in Game 1, scattering three runs and seven hits over seven innings. Gwen Jones and Ashlyn Masters each had two hits, Masters drove in a team-high three runs in the win.
It was the Raiders four-run outburst in the top of the fifth that broke open what had been a one-run game.
Jones went 4-for-5 with three runs scored, two stolen bases and a triple in game 2 loss. London Germ, Shelby Knox, C.J. Browder and Masters each had two hits apiece for the Raiders (35-14, 8-8 Panhandle Conference).
NWF State, which has secured a spot in the Gulf District Tournament, returns to action today with a doubleheader against Tallahassee.
